Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data. It is provided in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") for visitors in the EU/EEA and, where applicable, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents. WattCalcs is operated by an EU company, so the GDPR applies to EU/EEA visitors.

Purposes and legal bases of processing
- Serving the website and server log files (IP address, time, requested resource) to keep the site running and secure — legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Audience measurement with Google Analytics 4 and advertising with Google AdSense — only with your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
- Handling enquiries sent through the contact form or by email (name, email, message) — legal basis: legitimate interest / steps prior to a contract, Art. 6(1)(f) / (b) GDPR.
Cookies and consent
Until you consent, no analytics or advertising cookies are set (Consent Mode v2, everything denied by default). Consent is managed through a TCF v2.2-certified consent banner. See also the Cookie Policy.
Newsletter (double opt-in)
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We use a double opt-in procedure: after you sign up we send a confirmation email, and your subscription becomes active only when you click the link. The date and time of your sign-up and confirmation are stored as proof of consent. The newsletter is sent and managed with our self-hosted software (Listmonk) on our own EU infrastructure; your address is not shared with third parties. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter email.
Recipients / international transfers
With your consent, Google (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) may process data, possibly transferring it to the United States on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
Personal data is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (Art. 15–21) you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability. California (CCPA)
California residents may request access to or deletion of their personal information and may opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact [email protected].
